I'm going to try and do this more often, like I used to, a quick, simple round-up of some of the good stuff I've read during the week.

Fascism in America

• Spencer Sunshine at PRA with an impressively well-researched list of everything the far right did in the US in 2017 - 180 incidents. Fascist and hard right activists in America killed Srinivas Kuchibhotla in February, Timothy Caughman in March, Taliesin Namkai-Meche and Ricky Best in May, Heather Heyer in August, Bruce Cofield and Donald Smart in September, Carlos Moreno, Victor Vasquez, and Pamela Marques in November, and Francisco I. Fernandez and Casey J. Marquez, Buckley and Scott Kuhn-Fricker, and Zach Parrish in December, and also injured several more, including shooting Joshua Dukes in January, Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot in February and Deep Rai in March, stabbing Micah Fletcher in May, and beating DeAndre Harris in August. 

Freedom's flame globally

• Iran: Danny Postel rounds up essential reading on the Iran protests. The Momentum-linked Clarion magazine has lots of important pieces on solidarity with the protests. Workers Liberty has some good stuff too - this editorial and these interviews - and so does Libcom.
• Tunisia: Libcom have a good article on what's going on in Tunisia. Coatesy rounds up some reports from French language media, including the Tunisian left. All popular uprisings are contradictory and contain reactionary elements, and the Tunisian ones are no exception, with antisemitic attacks as Jews are scapegoated for austerity, as Bill Weinberg documents. 
• Solidarity: As some of the links in the Iran bullet above emphasise, the UK left has not been as forthcoming in solidarity for the working class uprising in Iran as it should have been. Here Rob Marchant catalogues four key global issues where Corbyn and his circle seem to be on the wrong side of history. And, from a very different perspective, in "From Trump to Twitter Wars: Dehumanizing Palestine", published and then deleted by Jewish Voice for Piece, Palestinian-American Leila Barghouty explores some of the racism and failures of solidarity around Israel-Palestine.
