Bob From Brockley: The drink

I've been thinking for a while of doing this, but is anyone interested in meeting up in the flesh for some non-virtual drink and chat? I'm setting a date of Saturday 17th July.

So, if you've ever wondered if I look more like this or like this, or even like this, this or this, e-mail me at bobfrombrockley at googlemail dot com. Apologies in advance if it takes me ages to reply - I'm very slow with my e-mail.

Chatham House rules will apply, and both regular readers and fellow bloggers are invited. I'm tagging a few below, by way of invitation, but if your name is not on the list and you feel it should be it's most likely I haven't twigged that you live in London.

Waterloo Sunset; Kellie; Richard; Daniel; Mira, David and gang; Flesh; Francis; Marko; Martin; Martin; Keith; Mod; Courtney; Jams; Transpontine; Will; Carl; Steve; the Estate agents; Dave and comrades; comrade DaveJim; Inspector Darryl; Clare; Sue; Max; Ross; Ken; Brockley Nick and co; Danny; Little Richardjohn; Nick; Mick; Paulie; Raven; Michael; James; and, if they've read this far, Gil, Anamik, Alex and any other actual humans who visit.

Saturday 17 July is two days after my 46th birthday. If I'm in a fit state then, and haven't fallen into a slough of middle-aged despond, a drink would be a jolly good idea.

I thought of of you today while wandering around Hilly Fields during the Brockley midsummer fayre.

Be great to see you Francis. I'll e-mail you the venue when I think of one. I was at the midsummer fayre yesterday too - bumped into two felllow bloggers, but missed you!

Sounds good; it's in my diary. Could stick local and go for Jam Circus/Mr Lawrence, or maybe venture further afield to the new brewery place in Greenwich?

Great though it sounds, I'm afraid I'm from oop north and can't really justify the cost of going drinking in London.

Good to see you yesterday Bob, I can surely see you again in a month time.

Oh what a shame! We have a dinner date in Greenwich. But maybe we'll get slung out early enough to join you.

A great idea. Sadly I'll be at Latitude that weekend. Enjoy, and see you soon.

Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking of somewhere like London Bridge, staying Sarf but venturing out of SE4. (Although if only Lewishamites reply, I'll reconsider.)

If you find yourself in New York, let me know.

Thanks Matt. Maybe if this event goes well, we can organise a world tour!

Provisionally, you're on!

A plus for any NYC trip: We can get He'Brew beers here. I was drinking some of the Messiah Bold the other day, and it's really quite tasty.

I should be there. Thanks for organising this.

I would be well up for that Bob, alas, I have booked my London trip for this block of months - to the LibCon conference tomorrow. Are you coming to that? Thanks for dropping me an email - I'm down the road in Canterbury, but alas funds don't usually permit more than one or two trips to London per year except when going home to Belfast, for which it's unavoidable.

I fear I may be out of the country on that date, but if I'm not, I'd love to come.

Thanks for all the replies. I will e-mail details to those who have replied positively or tentatively. If you think I might not have your e-mail details, give me a shout at bobfrombrockley at gmail com

Hey, many thanks for the invitation - it sounds a great idea. Unfortunately I don't think I can make it, though I might just email you for the details, just in case....have a good time everyone.

Oooh, how did that happen...I didn't mean to be 'anonymous':

Max, Francis, Martin, Raven, anyone else,

Am now sending out venue details. If you don't get an e-mail from me, e-mail me at bobfrombrockley at gmail dot com and I'll send em. So far, if everyone who says they'll come does, about a dozen people.

Many Thanks! It was an interesting nice evening! At long last people who can construct a political conversation of sorts!
