Tommy Sheridan - what a twat

If I had more time, I'd write a big juicy post about the hubris and megalomania of Tommy Sheridan, and about the fact that they Socialist Workers Party are prepared to join him in his pathetic adventures, and happy to wreck the Scottish Socialist Party, the most successful left party in the British Isles for decades, in doing so. The SWP never fell for Uncle Joe, but these days they seem to bend over at the fluttering of an eyelid from any would-be Stalin with a big enough ego (George Galloway, Hugo Chavez, Sheikh Nasrullah...)
  • The SSP view here.
  • The SWP view here (Check the photo illustrating the "great opportunity": Islamofascism's useful idiots draped in Hamas war garb. James Connolly and John MacLean would be grimacing in their graves).

Totally agree with you. What also bugs me is that, as I understand it, George Galloway had had some sort of agreement with the SSP that Respect wouldn't seek election in Scotland as the SSP and Respect candidates would end up splitting the vote between them and end up with neither party gaining much. What with this utter farce with Sheridan, and Galloway having already said he won't stand again as MP for BB&B, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he heads back here to Glasgow come the next election.

Which is still the case. The agreement holds.

That'd be James Connolly the devout Catholic and leader of a failed uprising, alleged socialists across Europe condemned at the time as "petit bourgeois" and "immature"? (Lenin, needless to say, did not.) That'd be John Maclean, founder of the Scottish Workers' Republican Party and committed supporter of nationalist struggles, including Connolly's?

And on your planet "Hamas war garb"=a headscarf? Wonder what you'd say to Connolly's crucifix...
